👕 AVID Wednesday Spotlight: College Campus Visits! 🎓
This week, we are recognizing AVID scholars who are stepping beyond the classroom and onto real university campuses — experiencing college life firsthand.
These visits give our students a glimpse of what their futures can look like. They can learn about majors, scholarships, and campus traditions, and leave inspired to keep working toward their goals.
Don’t forget to show your support for college and career readiness across PCSSD by wearing an AVID shirt and sharing your past or preparing for your future. #PCSSDproud #AVID #ServeAll

Check out the modified schedule for Thanksgiving Lunch this year!

We are so excited to host our students and families for our annual Family Day luncheon. The modified lunch schedule has been posted to the Baker website and the Baker Facebook page. Thanks to the benevolence of the Highland Valley United Methodist Church, we will have primary parking in their parking lot with a shuttle back and forth for your convenience.
There will be a bus to shuttle families in from Highland Valley United Methodist Church. Please park at the church and ride the shuttle over to Baker. *Neither the school nor the church can be held liable for any damages to your personal vehicle.*
Be sure to let us know you are coming by RSVPing using this link. (http://bit.ly/4nK9m0R
This week, we’re spotlighting Mrs. Stephanie DeWitt’s kindergarten class at William Jefferson Clinton Elementary. Students recently completed an AVID jigsaw activity on story elements. Each group became “experts” on characters, setting, beginning, middle, or end, and then taught their classmates what they learned.
“It’s been wonderful watching them collaborate, think critically, and deepen their understanding of how stories work! Way to go, scholars,” Mrs. DeWitt shared.
Don’t forget to wear your AVID shirts tomorrow, celebrate student success, and keep building those college and career ready skills!

All is well at Baker! Please don’t be alarmed if you see emergency vehicles on campus — they are here as part of our Touch-a-Trick event. Everything is safe and going as planned.
We’re excited for our students to enjoy this fun and educational experience!
Wow, Baker families - you did an amazing job helping fill up our Candy Monsters! Each class’s monster looked sweeter by the day, and your support made it such a fun school-wide experience .
A big congratulations to 1st Grade, whose monster gobbled up the most candy! They’ve earned a free extra recess to celebrate their sweet victory!
Your candy donations will help make our upcoming Wants and Needs event a huge success. Thank you for always showing up and supporting our students in such fun and meaningful ways!

💪 Outside of work, Charles enjoys lifting weights, singing, reading self-improvement material, and watching college football.
🗣 “It’s a great feeling when a student sees me at a store, remembers I was their bus driver, and runs over to give me a hug,” Charles said.
✨We are recognizing our men and women at the wheel for Bus Driver Safety Awareness Week.. Want to make a difference like these incredible drivers? 👉 Apply to be a bus driver at PCSSD: https://pcssd.schoolspring.com/

Our students have been exploring Economics and learning all about wants and needs—understanding that needs are essential for survival and well-being, while wants are things we desire but can live without.
To celebrate their learning, we’re excited to host our Annual Wants and Needs Event on October 31st!
We need your help to make it a success—please start sending in big bags of individually packaged treats or snacks to support our celebration.
More details will be coming soon, but mark your calendars for this fun and meaningful event celebrating our students’ hard work and learning!
