Mrs. Henderson's 8th grade Science classes participated in a unique activity today. The objective is to get students to use deductive reasoning and the scientific method to decide who committed the murder. Whodunnit? Find out who killed Mr. Brooks through a logical examination of evidence. Class students fill out data tables to help them pin down the suspect. After they've figured out just who the culprit is, the students compose will short stories that describe what went down on that dark day in October. Background Information given to students: Centerville Police discovered the body of a 36-year-old white male (later identified as Gavin Brook's) in an open field of daisies five miles outside of town. Mr. Brook’s body was discovered at 10:02 PM Friday night, August 24th. He was found lying face up on a red polka-dot, queen-size sheet. According to autopsy reports, one fatal gunshot to the back of the head ended Mr. Brook’s life. Forensic scientists estimate that the death occurred at about 7:45 PM.
