
The Philander Smith Director of Choirs presented Sylvan Hills High Senior, X’Zavier, with a full ride scholarship to Philander Smith University! He also informed X’Zavier he would be touring and performing with Philander Smith Choir in Los Angeles and surrounding areas this summer at no cost!





Congratulations to the two Sylvan Hills High students who earned the Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy for demonstrating proficiency in English and one or more other languages by high school graduation. Outstanding accomplishment!

Sylvan Hills High School proudly recognizes Nathan Lam, a rising senior in the Arkansas Children's Academy of Medical Sciences, for being selected to participate in the Arkansas Children's Research Institute Summer Science Program. Nathan hopes to become a physician, and this program will offer meaningful, hands-on experience.

The American Music and Dramatic Academy visited with our vocal and drama students to conduct a Master Class on various performing arts skills. The ADMA instructor used our students' performances to discuss techniques that will apply to all students and discussed the audition process in today's world. What a great opportunity for real world feedback from professionals in the field of performing arts.

SHHS AP language students are reviewing for the upcoming exam using the COLLABORATION strategy of WICOR. The students paired in groups to participate in a Synthesis Carousel Activity where they rank the effectiveness of thesis statements & evidence for an AP essay prompt.




Our FACs (Foods, Safety, & Nutrition) classes have been hosting a "Burger Wars," with all of Ms. Cummings' classes. This week, they had some celebrity guest judges who came to judge the finale! Thank you to Sgt. Mayo for providing prizes for our top burger!
